NOVA*WATER
WATER AS ART, RESEARCH AND CONNECTION
NOVAWATER* is an artistic and interdisciplinary platform dedicated to exploring contemporary relationships with water.
Founded by artist and researcher Fernanda Trevellin, NOVA*WATER brings together art, science, education and material research to create new ways of experiencing, understanding and valuing water.
At the centre of the platform is NOVA*DrinkingWaterFountain&Crystals — a series of sculptural drinking-water fountains that connect water, light, minerals and perception. Each composition develops a distinct relationship between these elements, creating an evolving body of works that can be presented in exhibitions, cultural institutions, private environments and public contexts.
Water is approached as both material and experience: something we encounter through the body, through perception and through everyday acts of drinking, gathering and sharing.
NOVA*DrinkingWaterFountain&Crystals
Sculptural drinking water fountains — sensorial, immersive, contemporary.
Each piece is both an artwork and a functional drinking fountain. Through water, crystal interfaces and light, the installations create sensorial environments that invite presence, perception and connection.
The series exists in three formats:

NOVA*Jungbrunnen — A large-scale, site-specific drinking-water fountain transforming water, architecture and collective participation into a shared spatial experience.

SUPER*NOVA — A sculptural drinking-water fountain series exploring the interplay of water, minerals and moving light through individual mineral compositions.

NOVA*Klein — A compact sculptural drinking-water fountain bringing water, minerals and light into an intimate, everyday encounter with the body.
RESEARCH / EDUCATION
LIGHT + WATER = COLORS
NOVAWATER* develops educational actions that use artistic experimentation to explore the relationships between water, light and perception. In the workshop LIGHT + WATER = COLORS, participants experiment with light passing through water and observe the emergence of colours, reflections and optical phenomena. The workshop draws on Goethe’s theory of colour, approaching colour as a phenomenon experienced through the encounter between light, matter and the observing body.
FROM ART TO ENVIRONMENTAL ACTION
NOVAWATER* connects artistic installations and educational programs with socio-environmental research and initiatives dedicated to the recognition, protection and revaluation of water. The mapping of subterranean rivers and water flows in São Paulo is one action within this program, bringing attention to the hidden hydrological systems beneath the city and opening new perspectives on water, territory and urban life.
Through these connections, the fountains become points of encounter from which artistic experience can lead towards research, dialogue and collective forms of care for water.
WATER RESEARCH
NOVAWATER* is informed by diverse scientific, experimental and interdisciplinary approaches to water. Its research references include Viktor Schauberger, whose observations of natural water flows and vortices explored the dynamic behaviour of water; Jacques Benveniste and Luc Montagnier, whose investigations raised questions around water, information and biological systems; Masaru Emoto, whose photographic experiments explored the formation of ice crystals; and Bernd Helmut Kröplin, whose research at the University of Stuttgart documented the changing structures of water droplets through microscopy and image-making.
Together, these and other investigations form a field of reference for NOVAWATER*'s ongoing artistic research into water, matter, movement, perception and information.
