Fernanda Trevellin is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher whose practice explores the relationships between water, light, perception and materiality. Her work brings together artistic research, spatial installations and experiential situations that invite new ways of encountering natural phenomena and everyday resources.

Her practice is grounded in a continuous investigation of water as both material and experience. Through sculpture, light, minerals, optical phenomena and spatial interventions, she develops works that connect sensory perception with questions of ecology, well-being and contemporary culture.

Water occupies a central position in this research. Trevellin investigates its physical, perceptual and cultural dimensions, exploring how water can become a space for encounter, attention and shared experience. This research led to the development of NOVA*DrinkingWaterFountain&Crystals, a body of sculptural drinking-water fountains that brings together water, minerals, light and the act of drinking.

Her artistic education began in France at the École des Beaux-Arts de Tourcoing and continued at the Universität der Künste Berlin, where she became part of the first class of the Institut für Raumexperimente, founded by artist Olafur Eliasson. Her work developed through an interdisciplinary environment connecting art, science, architecture, social practice and experimental forms of learning.

Since then, Trevellin has developed projects and installations in museums, cultural institutions and public contexts in Berlin and Sao Paulo. Her works have been presented at institutions including Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart – Berlin, Martin-Gropius-Bau and Neue Nationalgalerie Berlin.

MATERIAL, PERCEPTION & WATER

Material research is central to Trevellin's practice. Glass, water, minerals, light and colour are treated as active elements within each work. Their physical properties generate situations in which perception becomes part of the artistic process.

Her research also draws on historical and contemporary approaches to colour, natural phenomena and the relationship between body and environment. Experiments with light and water have led to workshops and educational projects investigating colour as a perceptual phenomenon and the individual experience of seeing.

NOVA*WATER

In 2017, Trevellin founded NOVAWATER*, an artistic and interdisciplinary platform dedicated to contemporary relationships with water.

The platform brings together art, research, education and collaboration through installations, workshops and public initiatives. At its centre is NOVA*DrinkingWaterFountain&Crystals, an evolving body of works that explores water as a material, a sensory experience and a shared resource.

Through NOVAWATER*, Trevellin develops collaborations across artistic, scientific, educational and environmental fields, creating spaces where water can be experienced, questioned and revalued.
