SUPER*NOVA_Principia is a sculptural drinking water fountain in which water, minerals, glass and light form a changing optical environment.

The work is constructed as a vertical transparent tower of concentric borosilicate glass cylinders. Water moves through the internal structure, passing through layers of minerals, while light reveals the different qualities, colours and transparencies of the composition.

The fountain contains a selected arrangement of gold nuggets, raw diamonds, tourmalines, white quartz, rose quartz and amethyst. The mineral composition establishes a visible stratigraphy within the glass structure, making the internal architecture of the fountain part of the experience. Light passes through the water, glass and minerals producing shifting optical phenomena. 

The work is activated through drinking. Each interaction changes the conditions within the fountain, making the visitor’s action perceptible through the movement of water and light. The fountain therefore remains in a continuous state of transformation.
