NOVA*FernandaTrevellin
Bio/CV
Fernanda Trevellin has been living in Berlin since 2008, where she completed her Master's in Interdisciplinary Arts at the University of the Arts Berlin in 2011 and was nominated for the prestigious "President's Award" (Preis des Presidentes der UdK). During her time at the university, she stood out as a member of the first class of the Institut für Raumexperimente (Ifrex), an interdisciplinary institute of art and science created by the renowned artist and professor Olafur Eliasson.
In Brazil, Fernanda graduated in Business Administration from EAESP FGV in 2004 and simultaneously studied Public Relations at ECA-USP. She began her artistic journey at the Panamerican School of Arts and the Museum of Contemporary Art MAC-USP under the guidance of Professor Cristina Freire.
In 2006, she was invited to study Fine Arts at the Université de Lyon and Université de Lille and graduated in 2008 from the École de Beaux Arts Tourcoing with an honorable mention 'félicitations'. Later, at the University of Berlin, she expanded her artistic practice with a systemic and interdisciplinary approach, incorporating natural and exact sciences into her work.
Fernanda uses materials that encourage reflection on the human relationship with natural resources, highlighting awareness of their exploitation and innovative ways of valuing these elements to transform society. With the NOVAWATER*Club project, she seeks to promote reflection on the potential exchange between cultural, social, and economic capital through the most valuable element for the maintenance of life, water.
The research on water filtration began with the Aqua Vitae installation at AGORA Collective Berlin in 2012. In recent years, Fernanda has explored medicine and rejuvenation through water revitalization with medicinal crystals with the project NOVA*WaterDrinkingWater&Crystals.
Her work with water, which spans over a decade, integrates knowledge of Natural Sciences, inspired by the systemic thinking described in Fritjof Capra's book "The Tao of Physics". Using this approach, Fernanda explores the interconnection between different fields of knowledge and the importance of water for the health and flourishing of societies.
The combination of in-depth knowledge of natural sciences acquired in Germany with Brazil's abundance of natural resources, where most therapeutic crystals originate, enriches her research. Since 2012, she has studied water purification and revitalization with crystals based on the "Memory of Water" concept developed by research institutes in Stuttgart, Italy, France, and Austria.
Fernanda deepens her understanding of the medicinal properties of water through experiments conducted by the Space Institute Raumfahrt in Stuttgart, by Heilsteinschule in Switzerland, and by Masaru Emoto in Japan. Since then, she has coordinated architectural-scale projects in collaboration with engineers from the Technical University of Berlin (TU-Berlin) to create and install NOVA*Jungbrunnen, "the fountain of youth."
In 2017, she and a team of over 20 professionals installed the NOVA*Jungbrunnen at the Hamburger Bahnhof Museum in Berlin, an important contemporary art center in Germany. Other works were exhibited at the Martin Gropius Bau Museum and the cultural space Haus Der Kultur Nikkel in Mecklenburg Vorpommern.
Fernanda continued to develop the NOVAWATER*Club with the creation of SUPER*NOVA, a limited edition of 10 pieces to be auctioned, and NOVA*Klein, a personalized fountain with crystals, gold, and diamonds selected by herself. These initiatives consolidated the NOVAWATER*Foundation project, which allocates part of the sales to programs for water awareness and preservation, as well as the dissemination of NOVA*Jungbrunnen fountains in cultural and institutional spaces.
Until October 2024, Fernanda is in São Paulo, working on the NOVA*SalutPerAquaRosewoodSPBR_2024 project, in partnership with the Getúlio Vargas Foundation, Studio Olafur Eliasson, Goethe Institute, German Consulate, and Rios&Ruas. This innovative project combines art, architecture, engineering, and cutting-edge German technology and aims to restore the spring of the Saracura River, located precisely beneath the new RosewoodSaoPaulo hotel. Through the artistic installations NOVA*MineralFilter and NOVA*Jungbrunnen, the spring waters of the Saracura River will be filtered and revitalized. At this altar, water will be served to the visitors of Cidade Matarazzo, enhancing the perception of the immense wealth flowing beneath the soil of the São Paulo capital.
